New in Norway, and in need of bank services?

On this page you can find all the information you need in order to acquire basic bank services.

As many services in Norway are digitalized, both when it comes to payments and public services, you will require:

  • Bank Account
  • Debit Card
  • BankID (to receive this you will need a biometric passport)

When you have been assigned a D-number, you can apply for all this here at Danske Bank. Your debit card allows you to withdraw money, and has contactless technology allowing you to pay with a simple tap of your card. With your BankID you can get access to e-banking and mobile banking, which gives you a daily overview of your finances.
Currently the application flow is only available in Norwegian.

Q&A Bank Services in Norway

  • You will receive a bank account with a Debit Card.

  • After you have signed the account agreement and returned this to us, we will send you your card and PIN-number by post. The PIN-number comes in a separate letter a few days after you receive your card.

  • You will receive the account agreement by post or email. You will have to physically sign these documents and return them to us via post.

  • To access e-banking services and other public services in Norway you need a BankID. We can only provide you with a BankID if you have a biometric passport that includes a RFID chip. Danske Bank must obtain a copy of your biometric passport.

  • One of our employees will contact you in order to collect all the necessary information we need. This contact happens either by mail or by phone. There is no need to contact us; we will reach out to you.

  • After Danske Bank has received your application, you will receive a message that an official letter is waiting to be collected at your closest post-office. When you collect the letter, you must bring your passport to the post-office so they can scan your passport and send it to us. You will automatically be contacted when the letter is ready for collection. Remember to bring your biometric passport.
